Hi, I’m Amelia Moran. I’m originally from South Florida and now a rising Junior at The George Washington University. I’m in the Business School with a concentration in Sports, Events, Hospitality Management.
I really enjoy my event management classes and I’m delighted to be working with Margo to get real experience in the event industry. I’m also excited to join her team since I currently play on the Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse team at GW. Balancing academics and sports has helped me with my time management skills, cooperation, perseverance and leadership.
I’m currently the volunteer Event Manager for Dream On 3 which raises funds to take children living with illness to their dream sports experience, e.g. a Phillies game. I am also the Social Media/Event Manager for Morgan’s Message at GW. Morgan’s Message is focused on the mental well-being of student athletes.
I am thrilled to be working with Bright Occasions and helping create beautiful, memorable events – extra-special occasions that bring joy to everyone.
My top 5 inspirations come from amazing celebrations I’ve attended or dream about.
At 15, I was invited to a beyond perfect Palm Beach birthday party: tented, glass-topped pool as our dining room, Hugh Jackman live (!) and glorious surroundings and music. I’ll never forget it. It stimulated interest in and love of special events.
For my 16th birthday, my mom took me to London! We went to Sketch, the most delightful restaurant ever. Each room has a different theme and décor. We went for the tea experience: pink interior, whimsical décor, rainbow/egg restrooms and more. Restaurants of this caliber put on a special event every single day… what an achievement!
Last summer, I attended my first White Party in the Hamptons. Everyone was dressed in crisp, white outfits. Summery drinks and light finger foods were enjoyed. And even though it was a smaller, intimate gathering, the attention to detail was meticulous .
When I daydream about creating something super special, I imagine each part of the wedding celebration held in different locations in a country. For example, Rehearsal Dinner in Rome, Wedding in Florence, Good-bye Brunch in Venice.
Another idea I have is that the different phases of the wedding couples’ lives are displayed by photos and momentos on each table: babyhood on one table, teen years on another, first date and courtship on another, etc. This will have guests sharing and enjoying the memories.
