Follow Friday Vendor Spotlight: Avantika Fraser, The Beauty Buff

All brides want to look beautiful on their wedding day.  This can mean different things for different people. but for many brides it means flawless make-up!  Because of the length of the day, your make-up has to last, which is just one of the advantages a professional make-up artist can provide.  When choosing a make-up artist, I recommend a bride start to think about where she wants to get ready (a salon, at home, at a hotel) and what type of make-up look she wants.   Other factors may include bridesmaids and mothers getting their make-up done and building in “getting ready” time into the schedule for the wedding day.

A little over a month ago, I had the pleasure to be a bridesmaid for one of my best girlfriends, and I was impressed by her make-up artist Avantika Fraser of The Beauty Buff Blog.  She did the entire bridal party (10 of us).  Our make-up stayed fresh the whole night, even though some of us did shed tears during the sweet ceremony.  Avantika began her career in beauty at age four.  “What started as a love for drawing turned into a passion for making over the faces she was drawing with only the finest markers Crayola had to offer. Each color was seen as a tube, jar, pencil or pot of something that would magically enhance and transform her subject-and it did!  Since then, she has taken her makeovers to another medium – people. The Beauty Buff did theatrical makeup in school and has done applications for events, weddings and fashion shows.”

From Avantika:  I feel like a kid in a candy store whenever I’m around lotions, potions, concoctions, etc.  I love writing about and reviewing products on the blog, doling out insider tips and interviewing professionals in the profession.  I feel so lucky to have a forum that allows me to celebrate colors, art, fashion and beauty.  I love what I do and look forward to working with many brides in the DC area.

Here is a highlight of Avantika’s great work, which includes last year’s Reem Acra Bridal Fashion Show with Carl Ray at the Washingtonian Bride & Groom Magazine Event-Unveiled
