Meet Cecilia, Bright Occasions Summer Intern 2016

I’m super excited to introduce you to our summer intern Cecilia Twitchell! With a passion for design and interest in event planning, Cecilia is currently studying Fine Art & Business at the College of Southern Maryland. She will be interning with Bright Occasions this summer, so you may see her with me at meetings and weddings, as well  as on the blog. Cecilia is detail oriented and customer service driven and loves wedding planning! I’m super excited to welcome her to the Bright Occasions team.

A little about Cecilia:
From:  My dad is a retired Air Force MSGT so I’m from many different places including California, Japan, Mississippi, and now finally Southern Maryland. I’ve been here for 10 years which is the longest I’ve stayed anywhere, and it’s definitely home to me now. I love the balance between living in a quaint and rural farm town with DC only a short drive away.
Currently Studying:  I’m currently majoring in Fine Art and Business at the College of Southern Maryland, however I plan on transferring to George Washington University next Fall or Spring. I hope to one day own my own wedding and event planning business because I know this is a job I will always be happy in. Life is too short not to pursue your passions.
Favorite place to shop:  As much as I love clothes shopping, I think my favorite place to shop would be Pottery Barn or Crate & Barrel. I could spend all day thinking up different ways to decorate a room. If I had unlimited funds those stores would definitely be my go-to.
Favorite place to eat:  I really enjoy spicy food and there is an amazing local Thai restaurant called Thai Inter that my boyfriend and I go to frequently. It’s cute and tiny but I am a firm believer that is where you always end up finding the best food. In general, I am pretty adventurous with food and finding new restaurants to try is always a goal of mine.
Favorite part of the wedding day: It has to be a tie between the father/daughter mother/son dances and the groom seeing the bride walking down the aisle. Both are such happy moments that the people involved will remember for the rest of their lives. The room always feels so emotionally charged that you can’t help but have a huge smile for them.
Hobbies/interest: When I’m not working, my happy place is being curled up somewhere reading a good book and drinking an iced coffee with my two poodle mixes cuddled up to me. I also have a bit of a travel bug – probably a result of my military childhood. A group of friends and I go on weekend excursions to nearby cities or beaches often. I plan on visiting Quebec and Europe in the near future.
Anything else you’d like to share:  I’m very excited for this opportunity to work with Bright Occasions and participate in putting together these beautiful events. It will be an honor to help create one of someone’s happiest memories.
