I am so excited to share the wedding for Annie and Josh on the blog this week! Annie and Josh are the nicest couple and I love that they made a conscious decision to plan and implement a wedding that would include 1) Participation by family and friends, 2) Impact i.e. minimizing the environmental impact by making choices to choose local products and 3) Meaning, they stayed true to their style and values and their wedding had a lot of meaning to them as individuals and as a couple! Their wedding at the Josephine Butler Parks Center was featured on Capitol Romance, a great blog that features modern, unique and offbeat DC weddings! Annie’s yellow shoes, retro hair style and short white dress, was the perfect mix of bridal and fun! Instead of floral bouquets and boutonnieres, Annie (and some friends) made pinwheel bouquets, boutonnieres and decor for the wedding. They looked awesome and besides being a very unique element, also fit with their wish to include wedding participation.
After their super sweet first look, Annie and Josh took advantage of the beautiful day and did additional photos in Meridian Hill Park.
Prior to their ceremony, Annie and Josh had a small Ketubah ceremony. I love their choice of a Quaker style Ketubah, asking family and friends to sign as witnesses.
Their ceremony took place in front of the Josephine Butler Parks Center house. How cute are the ring bearers?!
After the ceremony, guests were invited inside for cocktails and then the wedding reception. The beautiful photos are all from Knotty Photos. Part 2 photos of the wedding reception at Josephine Butler Parks Center will be posted later this week.
