Last year, I had the pleasure to work with a wonderful couple to plan their wedding at The Whittemore House (the Woman’s National Democratic Club) in Washington, DC. When I first spoke with bride Katharine about her desire for a wedding in the heart of DC at a historic site; I knew The Whittemore House would be perfect. Located in Dupont Circle, The Whittemore House is one of DC’s most historic and elegant mansions. When you walk in, you feel as though you are walking back in time with its noted collection of antiques, art, and political memorabilia. It’s also wonderful for weddings with a large number of guests traveling to DC, because of its close proximity to hotels (The Dupont Circle Hotel is next door), restaurants/weekend activity and the Metro.
I loved working with Katharine & Jose Luis for their wedding! The bride wore a beautiful pale blue wedding dress (her favorite color) and opted for a romantic color scheme of pale blue, light gray, white, silver and gold. Their wedding reception included an hour of salsa dancing as a nod to how they met! And the whole weekend included personal touches; a rehearsal dinner at a Peruvian Restaurant (to honor the Groom’s background), t-shirts for hotel guests designed by the bride’s brother, ceremony music by the bride’s uncle and cousin, a cookie table made by the bride’s aunt, and more. Kate Fine Art did an incredible job of capturing the day. It was great to work with the entire vendor team, including Chris Laich Music Services and The Beauty Buff (see full list below)!
