Spotlight: National Building Museum

This past Sunday my husband and I spent a few hours at the National Building Museum.  It was a pleasure to just walk around to see the event space, but the main reason we went was to view the current  Unbuilt Washington exhibit.  You don’t have to be an architect to appreciate the beauty of Washington, DC’s buildings.  Walking around the Unbuilt exhibit we were able to see plans for many of the buildings and landmarks that never came to fruition.  But one thing I was reminded of, was all of the hard work and planning that went into building our Nation’s Capitol.

Though DC is relatively young compared to other cities and Capitol’s throughout the world,  without a doubt it is one of the most beautiful cities to get married in.  There are many beautiful buildings and spaces in that have been built over the years.  Couples who decide to plan their wedding in DC have the option of different locations such as hotels, historic sites, art galleries, museums etc.  Another great option for wherever you choose to get married is to take pictures (for the engagement or wedding) by the memorials that surround the National Mall.

Planning an event at the National Building Museum does require a high budget.  But this is a great place for a high-end formal affair with a large guest count.  The space is designed to accommodate a lot of people averaging about 800 guests (can fit up to 16,000).
