I am often asked about “day-of” wedding coordination and what exactly a wedding coordinator does. First let me say that true wedding coordination starts long before the wedding day. Professional wedding coordinators cannot start working with their clients on the wedding day, snap their fingers and make everything happen according to plan. I love this post from Every Last Detail that explains why “day-of” coordinators do not exist.
The “day-of” term is perpetuated by wedding vendors and brides. There are some inexperienced wedding coordinators that may actually offer a “day-of” service. Couples should make sure to hire an experienced planner who will work with them during the final month of their wedding. I’d like to encourage all wedding vendors and wedding couples to stop saying “day-of” and use the term wedding coordination.
