Last spring I teamed up with Rachael Foster Photography and Petals by the Shore to create a vibrant Dutch styled wedding. As a lover of all things elegant and bright, I had a lot of fun planning and styling this shoot. Our goal was to put together wedding inspiration that modern couples could incorporate into their real weddings; using traditional Frisian Dutch customs with contemporary designs. It was wonderful to work with the amazing team of vendors who helped bring this together (see full list below). Our Vibrant Dutch Wedding Inspiration was featured in Style Me Pretty last Fall. Here is part 1:
The red, white and blue flag from Friesland and orange color associated with the Netherlands became our primary colors.
Isn’t our bride beautiful?! Amie Decker Beauty did an amazing job with our brides hair and make-up and Fabulous Frocks provided the gorgeous lace gown. Lace is always classic and very much on trend this year. The Garter Girl provided a perfect “something blue” accessory.
Woodlawn Manor in Sandy Spring, MD was the perfect location for our styled wedding. The beautiful brick manor house is set against green pastures with a historic stone barn on the property. Today this is home to one of the public parks in Montgomery County and is a working horse farm.
The ceremony space with florals by Petals by the Shore was gorgeous and could work in a variety of locations. I love how the moss walls allow the bright florals to pop and frames the space.
A wonderful Dutch custom for weddings is to include a “wishing tree” for guests to leave well wishes for the happy couple. We used this idea and created a series of small trees using moss and branches. Stationer Simply Designed provided lovely little notes hung from navy ribbon.
Signature drinks can be cocktails or mocktails. RSVP Catering worked with us to provide a citrus infused beverage to be enjoyed during the cocktail hour.
Incorporating lounge furniture is very much on trend; we decided to use vintage pieces to keep it classic and coordinate with the look and feel of our styled wedding.
Rachael Foster Photography did a great job capturing all of the details. Part 2 will be posted later this week with more lovely inspiration.
