Wedding Dress Inspiration – Using Golden Globes Fashion 2017

I know that I’m not alone in eagerly watching the award shows (and pre-shows) to see the stunning fashion worn by the Hollywood A-listers. I love using these fashion trends to inspire real weddings when we are involved in the event planning, design and styling. This year was no exception and so many of the stunning gowns worn, provided perfect eye candy, as well as great wedding dress inspiration. Many of the trends we saw on the red carpet were also trends that hit the NY Bridal Market this past fall. Here are my top 4 looks and wedding dress inspiration using Golden Globes Fashion 2017.

1). Capes

Mandy Moore looked stunning at the Golden Globes in her sheer black Naeem Khan gown with the stunning cape. Beautiful flowing capes were all over Bridal Market this year and we love the drama and beauty they add to a wedding dress. This wedding dress by Naama & Anat, with its sensational sheer cape, is also showstopper.

2). Blush and intricate beading

Emma Stone wore a whimsical blush, old hollywood style gown with sparkly stars artfully beaded by Valentino Couture to the Golden Globes. Not only have blush wedding dresses gained popularity in recent years, we saw many gowns at Bridal Market with intricate beading and lace detailing. This beautiful wedding dress by Jenny Packham, who is known for making vintage style wedding dresses with modern elements, is a lovely way to translate Emma Stone’s golden globes gown for your wedding dress.

3). Menswear

Evan Rachel Wood stopped heads when she wore a custom suit by Joseph Altuzarra to this year’s Golden Globes. She wore a suit to show young girls and women that dresses aren’t a requirement. She proves that you don’t need to wear a dress to a special event to look fabulous. One trend we saw at Bridal Market, that we hope sticks around for awhile, are wedding menswear inspired women’s attire including suits and jumpsuits. Isn’t this elegant Carolina Herrera suit still super bridal?!

4). Plunging necklines and high slits.

Jessica Biel was jaw-dropping in her Elie Saab gown at the Golden Globes 2017. This dress was sexy and dramatic, without being vulgar. This was due to it’s simple plunging front and high side slit, that were balanced out by the voluminous dramatic full skirt. Deep necklines and illusion tops were all over Bridal Market, as were many dresses with high side slits. This wedding dress from Rivini designer Rita Vinieris has all of those same elements from Jessica Biel’s gown. The effect is a wedding dress that is modern, dramatic and feminine.
