Why Pin?

In today’s social media world, you can use the internet for everything from work to play, you can shop, research, read, and share.  One of the reason’s that Pinterest has become the fastest growing social website, is because it provides a visual platform for sharing online content.  It is also extremely easy to use and share/re-pin the images you have found from Pinterest’s many public collections (fashion, art, home decorating, craft projects, food, weddings, and more).  Each pin is an image that connects users to the original source/website.  So, for example you see a picture of a beautiful Wedding cake and click on the pin, that will take you to the site that the Wedding Cake was posted on and help you find additional information.  Of course, among brides, it has become a popular tool for finding and putting together details to incorporate in your wedding.

A couple week’s ago, the Washingtonian Bride & Groom blog posted a great article about using Pinterest to plan a wedding:

Tips for Using Pinterest to Make Your Dream Wedding a Reality
When it comes to planning, more and more brides are turning to pinning.
By McLean Robbins

Check out the full article on the Washingtonian Bride and Groom Blog.  The article, by McLean Robbins, shares tips from DC area professionals, the different ways real brides are using Pinterest to plan their wedding, and how I use Pinterest as a tool for my Wedding Planning business and my brides!

So why pin?  Well I caught the Pinterest bug last summer when a friend told me that I should check it out for new recipe ideas and craft projects.  And then eventually realized it would be a great tool as a Wedding Planner to share my own ideas and creations, as well as to check out what other Wedding Professionals are sharing and doing.  It allows me to keep up with the current trends and to get new ideas to keep my styling fresh and fun.  This has evolved into also looking for and pinning inspiration for my brides.  I love helping with the overall look and decor of a wedding, which can be really personal and unique to each couple.  Since I’m on the site I can easily pin an item if it matches my bride’s vision and may be something that she hasn’t seen (since Pinterest can be a bit of a time-suck)!  It is also a way that the bride can keep her friends/family from not seeing any surprises because it is on my page.

What to pin?  Anything goes – but popular boards for brides include Wedding Dress/Attire, Flowers, Hair and Make-up, Fashion for Wedding Events and Honeymoon, Wedding Photography, and Craft Ideas/DIY.  You could also do one board for your wedding that has all of the above pinned.
